Nicula Monastery

The wonder-working icon from Nicula Monastery dates from the year 1681. Nicula is near the town of Dej in Transylvania, and is under the Romanian Orthodox Archdiocese of Cluj. During the time of the Hapsburg persecution and forced conversion of the Romanian Orthodox of Transylvania to Byzantine Catholicism, the icon wept, and along the years has been known to be a source of miracles.

The patron feast of Nicula Monastery is the Dormition of the Mother of God, and its annual pilgrimage (August 15) draws hundreds of thousands of people.
